Topper Finished…

…just in time for Fall!

It always pays to hit the remnant bin at my LQS.  That’s where I had picked up the lovely piece of yardage to use for my binding – long before I found the charm pack to match.

I treated myself to a package of these Crayola fine line markers when the back to school sales were on.   I test drove them on the front of my topper and they washed out completely!   Warning – I have read in the blogosphere not to iron the marks before washing or you will  heat set them.  As well it wouldn’t hurt to test the markers on the fabric you plan on marking just to make sure they will wash out.  Better safe than sorry.  

I really enjoy making these pillowcases.  These were sent to two of my great-nieces. 

Lastly, I want to share this picture of my mother and I (when we were both much much younger).  She just had her 85th birthday last week.   Happy Birthday, dear Mom!

An Autumn Table Topper

 

It’s been a year of making table toppers for gifts.  This one is for me!  I’m using a charm pack of Mix and Mingle by Sandy Gervais which has great autumn colours in it and the Road to Tennessee block.

 

As you can see I’m working on my free motion quilting.  The pattern is from Patsy Thompson Designs.   She has an amazing amount of free downloadable patterns and free instructional videos.

I printed out one of Patsy’s patterns and cut along the stem line.  I then drew the stem line onto my topper as a guide.  I marked the spacing of the leaves as well.  Then off I went.

I was lucky to have a piece of this mini pumpkin yardage from Connecting Threads in my stash for my backing.  How’s that for matching perfectly!

It sure feels like Autumn here today at only 14C (60F) so I better get back to my sewing.   I’ll see you when I’m finished.
